Jesus Christ has paid the price for our sins and set us free from the bondage of the Law but neither did He ask us to break the law. However, while all things are permissible for us to do, not all things are beneficial to us. ‘So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter. Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive. Yea, better is he than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.’ (Ecclesiastes 4:1-3).
The principles God gave to us in the New Testament are not because He is trying to make our lives miserable, but because He wants us to live life more abundantly. When we disobey Him, we risk having to deal with the consequences of our actions, and we subject ourselves to the devil’s attacks more easily. It is a waste of time to engage in activities that feed the flesh. It brings shame, guilt and condemnation.
God’s instructions for Believers are designed to show us what is beneficial for us. He is a loving Father; He knows what is best for us. When we cooperate with His spiritual principles, we will experience the best He has for us. Your mind must constantly be renewed with the Word of God so that you can enjoy the benefits of the salvation you received through Jesus finished work, while you are still living on this earth.
